The Montana Phase 1.5 Program is funded by MSU NSF EPSCoR and managed by TechLink to assist Montana companies with current Phase I SBIR or STTR awards.

A Phase I SBIR or STTR award is a prerequisite for much a larger Phase II award, but only about 1/3 of Phase I recipients go on to win Phase II, which can lead to commercialization success. Any Montana company with a Phase I is eligible for Phase 1.5 assistance, which utilizes the same experts and resources as our other programs, along with added focused support. The program’s emphasis is on Commercialization Planning, which is a critical component often found lacking in Phase II proposals, and important to fostering sustainable industry growth in the state.
