Christie Bell, Market and Economic Research Specialist, is assisting TechLink with a comprehensive economic impact analysis of all Department of Defense (DoD) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase II contracts initiated during the period from 1995 to 2012. The study is intended to definitively quantify the DoD SBIR/STTR programs’ overall contribution to the national economy and defense mission during the study period, and reveal notable successes. In 2014, Christie joined TechLink to help undertake a major study of the overall national economic impact of the Air Force SBIR/STTR Program. Prior to joining TechLink, she managed the Montana Technology Innovation Partnership (MTIP) for the Montana Department of Commerce. The MTIP program provides technical assistance to small technology-focused companies interested in SBIR/STTR proposal development in addition to support for intellectual property and commercialization planning for proprietary technology. Christie’s primary focus was assessing client SBIR/STTR eligibility and identifying R&D funding opportunities, specializing in marketing and client/service/partner matchmaking. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in business from Montana Tech of the University of Montana.
