Dan Swanson, Senior Technology Manager and Licensing Leader, has 20 years of technology transfer experience, including 16 years at TechLink. He has brokered more than 90 license agreements, primarily in the fields of biotechnology and advanced materials, including a variety of coatings, devices, and diagnostic hardware and software. He serves as TechLink’s licensing leader, responsible for coordinating licensing and other partnership activities.
Dan practices active marketing and helps to bridge the gap between government and business goals and practices. He helped to pioneer, and has implemented on several occasions, a "timed offer" licensing strategy, resulting in multiple licensees and the successful commercialization and transition of the patented technologies.
Prior to joining TechLink, Dan was a consultant for the World Bank, where he was involved in projects ranging from firm-level privatization to manufacturing sector development initiatives. Dan has an MA in public policy with a concentration in economics from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the international Licensing Executive Society (LES) and was one of its first members to be recognized as a Certified Licensing Professional.
