Laurel Halfpap, Senior Technology Manager, has over 21 years of experience in managing, marketing, and licensing intellectual property. She has brokered nearly 160 license agreements, including 47 for TechLink, in biomedicine and biotechnology, agricultural technologies, environmental technologies, and software.
In addition to Department of Defense technology, she has marketed British government technology in the biomedical area, as well as dental technology for the American Dental Association Foundation. Laurel has also been a resource for new DoD employees, teaching marketing and licensing in the DoD technology transfer offices at Ft. Detrick and the Naval Medical Research Center, and has provided resident expertise in these offices when staffing levels dropped.
Prior to joining TechLink, Laurel served as assistant director and senior licensing associate for Oregon State University’s Office of Technology Transfer. Previously, she was a licensing associate for the University of Minnesota. Industry and research experience includes positions with the Advanced Science and Technology Institute and Epitope in Oregon, and Zymogenetics in Washington. Laurel has a BS degree in microbiology from Kansas State University and an MBA and MS degree in public health from the University of Washington. She is active in AUTM and was in the first wave of LES members to be designated as a Certified Licensing Professional.
