2009 Article: International Economic Development Council Journal on TechLink
This article focuses on a “partnership intermediary” organization, TechLink, which fosters technology-led economic development by helping companies to access the diverse technology, unique technical capabilities, and sizeable research-and-development funding in the US Department of Defense (DoD) lab system.
From its base in the Northern Rocky Mountains at Montana State University, TechLink operates nationally, having brokered partnerships between DoD labs and companies in 35 different states.
TechLink’s primary activities are helping to establish licensing agreements that give companies access to DoD-developed technology; cooperative R&D agreements between DoD labs and companies; and R&D contracts between DoD and small businesses for new technology development.
