The pedestal clamp design was developed by the US Air Force Research Laboratory, Directed Energy Directorate, Starfire Optical Range. The clamps were designed to meet the stringent size requirement of the Air Force Guidestar program. The allowable area for Guidestar on a 3.5 meter telescope is about 2 ft. x 6 ft. The space limitations for the optical components required this new advanced pedestal clamp design.
- Provides secure, high density mounting of optical components
- Allows flexibility in component layout
- Independent evaluation at Spectrum Laboratory at Montana State University provided excellent user feedback and confirmation of market demand
- The new pedestal clamps are currently in use by the Air Force and can be easily manufactured
