In a multi-channel wireless network, channel selection is important to best ensure that data arrives at its intended destination quickly and in tack. This becomes even more important in crises situations when networks become loaded with traffic. Such events may include natural disaster scenarios or armed conflicts with the added impact of active jamming systems. These are events in which a transmission error code can have devastating consequences for the sender.

With the above in mind, experts at the Naval Postgraduate school have developed a system which monitors the network channels for performance and selects the highest performing channels for use. Performance is made up of such qualities as failure rate percentages and latency times. Ongoing monitoring of the channels allows the system to dynamically change the status of each from good to bad or vice versa and to track the improvement or degradation of each channel.
