Lightweight hybrid materials with a significantly-reduced coefficient of thermal expansion, low density, and high durability in the aggressive environment such as low-earth orbit are disclosed. The high-performance polymer materials can include epoxy, cyano ester, bismalmeide, polyimide, vinyl ester, polyamide, polyacrylate, and others; with their applications as a matrix in the carbon-fiber-reinforced or glass fiber-reinforced composite. The fillers for the hybrid include one or two or all, of the following components: the layered-silicate, negative-CTE powder, and low-density material.
